Punching 89 key fair organ music using an old converted sewing machine whilst still at school. I was not folically challenged then. In other words I still had Hair!
I started building this 89 key organ whilst in the sixth form at school. The woodwork master was as eccentric as I was, and encouraged me. I then altered an old Library van and put the thing in...
I finally sold the 89 key organ and bought a 48 key Dutch Street Organ, housed in a drawbar trailer. I then proceeded to terrorize the tourists in our area with this setup! A mean looking four wheel drive wagon, the organ trailer, and a sixteen foot
caravan on the back. It was a long way to walk back to shut the gate. Sixty three feet actually! A case of bigger toys for bigger boys.
Last But Not Least
There is a downside to working with, and hiring out mechanical organs! One of the bugs is the phone call which goes like this:-
Are you the man with the big organ? - Yes - How much do you charge to take it out in public?
And so on........ Nuff Said!
